Detailed Itinerary
Day 1: Transfer to Volcanoes NP
Your tour guide will pick you from the airport on arrival or Hotel in Kigali and take you for an OPTIONAL city tour. Visit the genocide memorial, Nyamata church, local markets among others. You will then drive northwards to Volcanoes National park. You will enjoy a spectacular scenic view en route of the Virunga Mountains. Day 2: Gorilla Tracking Adventure and cultural walk.
Take your early breakfast and head to the park headquarters for briefing before entering the tropical forest. You will spend a maximum of one-hour taking observations; photographs and watching them feed or play around. In the evening, you may go for a cultural walk to iby'wachu cultural village. Day 3: Golden monkey tracking and transfer to Gisenyi.
In the morning, you will transfer to the headquarters of Volcanoes national park for a briefing before setting off for golden monkey tracking. You will interact with monkeys will last for an hour as you take photographs and observe the unique characters of these endangered species. On return, you will set off to Gisenyi. Day 4: Gisenyi - Kinunu
After an early breakfast at Paradis Malahide Hotel and pre-departure briefing by your guide then head to the Nkora Village through Nyamyumba and Cyimbiri for Coffee experience in Kinunu. From here you will ride enjoying a thousand hills of Rwanda with its amazing sundown lighting up the lake shores to Kinunu for your first coffee experience and the best campsite on the Congo Nile Trail. Overnight at Kinunu washing station (The Senators Guest house)
Day 5: Kinunu to Bumba and Kibuye
This morning you will drive to the Congo Nile Watershed at 2630 m altitude, then down to Bumba base camp for lunch and community interaction. Drive on the main road to Kibuye for minimum 3 hours to get to the Rubengera junction, following the trail between community fields, crossing the river Coko before getting to Kibingo Health Centre to Mushubati and then to the main road junction of Rubengera and then down to Kibuye. The night will be spent in one of the relaxing hotels of the City (Morriah Hotel resort)/Cormoran Hotel/Rwiza Hotel, just on the lake shores. Dinner and Overnight stay.
Day 6: Kibuye - Gisovu - Bisesero - Mugonero
From Kibuye our driving experience takes us to Gisovu for the tea experience and back down to the Bisesero genocide memorial and then down to Mugonero orphanage. Overnight at Mugonero orphanage
Day 7: Mugonero - Shangi - Kamembe
Departure from Mugonero after a discovering tour of the orphanage, drive all the way down to Nyamasheke and the Gashirabwoba genocide memorial before heading to Shangi, the first German military post of Rwanda. After a historical introduction of Shangi, drive through the Congo Nile Trail to Kamembe. Effective drive hours: 7 hours. Overnight at Emeraude Kamembe Tented Camp
Day 8: Kamembe Island Tour
After 4 days drive, we take a relaxing morning by discovering the Kamembe surroundings and its amazing islander’s community in Kombo and Gihaya Island. Overnight at Emeraude Kamembe Tented Camp

After breakfast, you have an amazing drive through Nyungwe National Park, and go for the Forest Canopy walk on the bottom of the Forest and then in the afternoon, go for nature walk train. Day 10: Chimpanzee tracking and afternoon Colobus monkey tracking.
In the morning, you will set off to the forest for chimpanzee tracking adventure.
