For the 2 Days Uganda gorilla tour, if you intend to begin from Entebbe - Uganda, it is advisable that you fly to either Kisoro or Kihihi airstrips and later after the gorilla trek fly or drive back. You may choose to go overland and exit through Kigali airport. For visitors transiting through Kigali airport it is just a 4 to 5 hours drive to Bwindi Forest national park.  The routing is determined by the availability of gorilla permits. If there is still gorilla tracking availability in Southern Bwindi - the Rushaga Sector, it is advisable we go through Kyanika Border post. If it is Ruhija or Buhoma stations, then Katuna border crossing would be ideal for the routing. This package could as well be ideal for visitors intending to engage in gorilla habituation activity.

Mgahinga national park in Uganda is also ideal for a 2 days Uganda gorilla tour. This package can also include either golden monkeys tracking or a visit to the Batwa (Pigmy) people. To access Mgahinga, Chanika border is the gate way to Kisoro.  It's just 4 to 5 hours drive from Kigali to Mgahinga national park.

Day 1: Transfer to Bwindi National Park ( 4-5 hrs. drive)
You will be picked from the hotel in Kigali and drive northwards across the border to Bwindi National Park in Uganda with en route stops for sight seeing. Dinner and overnight stay at Bakiga Lodge / Mahogany Springs

2 days Uganda gorilla tour

Day 2. Mountain Gorilla Tracking and transfer back to Kigali
Assemble at the park headquarters for a briefing in the morning with your trekking gear and drinking water  for briefing by senior park warden and later begin the trek into the forest in search for mountain gorillas.

After the gorilla trek you may enjoy your lunch before transferring back to your original destination. 

The 2 days gorilla safari can also take a different routing. One may choose to to do a trip to either Volcanoes or Mgahinga national parks. The gorilla permit in Volcanoes national park costs USD 1500 whereas for Mgahinga and Bwindi Forest national parks it costs USD 800.

What you need on 2 days Uganda gorilla tour

  • drinking water - You need to keep refilling drinking water as the hike is quite strenuous
  • Comfortable boots that can comfortably navigate the slippery terrain
  • Rain jacket - the weather in the forest is unpredictable. It can rain any time of the day
  • heavy hand gloves - there are stinging nettles so your hands should be protected.

Mountain gorilla trekking is the number one travel activity done in Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park. The park is home to over 400 mountain gorillas which make half of the world's total gorilla population. The park boasts of 17 gorilla families spread into 4 sectors. Buhoma in the north, Ruhija in the east, Rushaga and Nkuringo sectors in the southern region.  The gorilla families in Bwindi include Mubare, Habinyanja, Rushegura, Kyaguliro, Katwa, Muyambi, Christmas, Bitukura, Oruzogo, Mukiza, Bushaho, Nkuringo, Nshongi, Mishaya, Bweza, Busingye, Kutu, Mucunguzi and Rwigi gorilla families.
