Mountain Gorilla Trekking
Over 50% of travelers to Uganda choose mountain gorilla trekking as their number one priority. Gorilla trekking in Uganda takes place in Bwindi Impenetrable Forest and Mgahinga Gorilla National Parks both Located in the southwestern region. Interestingly, Uganda is home to over 600 mountain gorillas, which count to half of the world’s total gorilla population. Altogether, Uganda has 22 gorilla families, which guarantee availability of roughly 176 gorilla permits each day. The high number of gorilla families in Uganda gives many travelers a chance to trek gorillas compared to Rwanda and Congo. Each gorilla permit in Uganda costs $700 for foreign non-residents, $600 for foreign residents and UGX 250,000 for East African citizens. Chimpanzee Trekking
