Alibaba Founder Jack Ma To Visit Rwanda
Rwanda is set to host the founder of Chinese business magnate and investor on 31st October 2018. The founder and executive director of the Chinese e-commerce Alibaba group are mainly interested in meeting meet with local investors to explore opportunities available in various sectors all over Rwanda. As expected, tourism is one of the major sectors the Alibaba founder is focusing on especially gorilla safaris in Volcanoes national park in the northwestern province of Rwanda. Besides tourism, Jack Ma intends to promote electronic payment and education between China and Rwanda. Rwanda Development Board has so far confirmed the two deals, which is good news. Jack Ma’s visit to Rwanda comes after Rwanda’s partnership with the Rwandan Embassy in China. During Rwanda’s week in China, Rwanda Development Board showed case all tourism and economic investment opportunities which make Rwanda an exceptional destination. This year’s visit will be Jack Ma’s second visit to Rwanda since 2017 when he first visited on his trip in the east African nation to attend youth connect Africa summit in July 2017.
The Youth Connect Africa was founded in 2012 by the Rwanda government in collaboration United Nations Rwanda. The major objective for this initiative was to bring together all youth and enlightening them of the available opportunities hence fighting against unemployment among the youth in Rwanda and the globe.

On his Rwanda trip, Jack Ma will work on different innovative projects to improve the wellbeing of local Rwandans as well as improving the economy of Rwanda development. The projects to work on include choosing 200 young Africa entrepreneurs to work at Alibaba headquarters. This will create employment opportunities for the youth who will also gain new experiences in fields such as the Internet and artificial intelligence and e-commerce.
Also, Jack Ma and his Alibaba group will offer different training in different courses in different public and private universities all over Africa. Among the courses to teach include e-commerce, Internet and artificial intelligence among others. These projects are aimed at ensuring quick online service delivery saving time and resources.
More so, Jack Ma will work on a partnership between Alibaba and paradise foundation of China. This aims at conserving the natural environment and endangered species including elephants in the rain forests of Africa. Other endangered species considered include mountain gorillas, chimpanzees and other animal species in the tropical rain forests and savannah grassland of Africa.
Rwanda’s partnership with Alibaba is yet another achievement after the country struck a tourism deal with Arsenal football club in a “visit Rwanda campaign. All the strategies are to promote and market Rwanda’s exceptional tourism products such as gorilla safaris to Volcanoes national park, Chimpanzee trekking/ Canopy walk in Nyungwe forest national park, game viewing in Akagera national park and Virunga volcano hiking among others. Through aggressive marketing will continue to receive the highest number of Chinese travelers on African safari holidays which make it out-compete for other destinations in East and central Africa. The Alibaba electronic payment will make online transactions easy hence enabling a billion users to access and pay for Rwanda products with no difficulty. Rwanda joins the other 8 African countries that have been already adopted the electronic payment system.
